Causes of neck ageing

Less Subcutaneous Fat: The neck has less subcutaneous fat, which provides support and volume. As we age, we lose even more fat, leading to sagging and a more prominent appearance of underlying muscles.

These fine-to-deep horizontal lines are formed by repeated downward motion of the head combined with dermal thinning as collagen breaks down. Horizontal neck lines represent areas of collagen thinning that tend to get worse with ageing, collagen loss, sun damage and repetitive downward neck movements (looking down at phones or iPads, hence the nickname ‘tech neck’). Treatment option 2: Surgical face and neck lift

For patients with severe face and neck sagging who are able to accept downtime (3-4 weeks) and are looking for significant results, a surgical face and neck lift can be performed by a plastic surgeon under general anaesthesia (requires hospitalisation). Excess and loose skin of the face and neck is removed for a lifted, more youthful appearance.
