Sculptra

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra (PLLA- Poly L Lactic Acid), is a collagen biostimulator approved by the US FDA since 2004. After injection, Sculptra stimulates skin cells to produce new collagen and elastin- this improves skin quality and results in firmer, lifted skin with less fine lines and sagging1,2. Common treatment areas include the temple, cheeks, nasolabial fold and chin.

How does Sculptra work?

Each vial of Sculptra contains Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) 150mg, Sodium carboxymethycellulose (CMC) 90mg and mannitol 127mg. Sculptra, when injected into the dermis or subcutaneous tissue of the treatment area, triggers a controlled inflammatory effect and stimulates skin cells known as fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin to improve the skin’s structural integrity and elasticity.
Over time, PLLA is absorbed by the body and the newly formed collagen and elastin remains, thus creating natural and subtle-looking results. Clinical studies have shown that the level of Type 1 Collagen increases by 66.5% after a Sculptra treatment.

Why choose Sculptra?

Sculptra is ideal for clients who are seeking rejuvenation but wish for a more subtle and natural look. As compared to hyaluronic acid fillers where “what you see is what you get”, the results from Sculptra occur gradually over 1-3 months and can last up to 24 months. While Sculptra costs more than a hyaluronic acid filler, it may be more cost effective given the long-lasting effects.
  • Long-lasting and natural-looking results
  • No downtime, minimally invasive treatment
  • Safe with over 20 years of clinical use

What conditions can Sculptra treat?

  • Facial volume loss: Sculptra addresses age related treatment facial volume loss
  • Nasolabial folds and marionette lines: by replenishing volume and tightening skin, Sculptra improves the appearance of the deep folds of the face
  • Skin laxity: Sculptra improves skin firmness and reduces sagging
  • Jawline definition: Sculptra improves contours of the jawline
