TrapTox (aka Trapezius Botox Shoulder slimming injections aka Barbie Botox aka Barbie Tox) is an aesthetic and therapeutic treatment where Botox is injected into the upper trapezius muscles—the muscles running from the neck to the shoulders. By slimming the bulky trapezius muscles, the Trap Tox treatment creates a longer, more tapered neckline and a softer, more elegant shoulder contour. By relaxing overactive trapezius muscles, Trap Tox also reduces shoulder strain and neck aches.
It is commonly requested by:
The trapezius muscle spans the upper back and shoulders, connecting the base of the skull to the spine and shoulder blades. It plays a key role in posture and upper body movement, including lifting, rotating, and stabilising the shoulders.
The upper portion of the trapezius can become more prominent due to muscle tension, repetitive strain, or posture-related habits like hunching or shoulder shrugging. This can lead to a broader, more angular shoulder profile, especially when the muscle is overactive or hypertrophied.
This is where TrapTox helps — by selectively relaxing the overactive trapezius muscle fibres, the treatment can create a slimmer, more feminine shoulder contour.
Longer-looking neck — relaxing the traps lowers the shoulders, giving the appearance of a longer, more graceful neckline
Slimmer silhouette — creates a softer shoulder line that flatters off-shoulder and halter tops
Improved posture — helps correct hunched shoulders and forward neck posture
Balanced proportions — complements jawline and facial contouring by improving the upper body profile
TrapTox targets the upper trapezius, the muscle extending from the back of your neck to your shoulders. By injecting small amounts of Botox into this area, the treatment:
Over time, this leads to a visibly longer, slimmer neck, improved posture, and less shoulder tightness — without surgery or downtime.
Trap Tox reduces muscle tension and muscle bulk- providing both cosmetic and medical benefits
Before treatment, your doctor will assess and mark the areas of muscle overactivity along the trapezius. Typically, 10-12 injection points are placed on each side, targeting the most prominent or tense muscle bands.
At each point, around 4-6 units of Botox may be administered, which works out to approximately 50 to 60 units per shoulder. The exact amount can vary depending on your muscle size and desired results. Typically, each TrapTox treatment will require 100 Botox units, with patients requiring 1-2 treatments initially to achieve a good outcome. Thereafter, maintenance treatments are performed every 4-6 months.
Treatment typically costs $1200 per session (100 Botox units).
While TrapTox is generally safe, potential risks include:
Nicknamed “Barbie Botox” or “Barbie Tox”, Trap Tox has surged in popularity as clients seek out an attractive, doll-like appearance with slimmer shoulders and neck lines. Social media is currently trending with posts of “Barbie Botox”, driving demand in clinics.
We begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your trapezius shape, posture and aesthetic concerns. We’ll also advise you on realistic expectations and the dosing recommended for your anatomy.
Numbing cream is applied for 20 minutes. The procedure takes about 10-15 minutes. Botox is administered via a fine needle into specific points along the trapezius. Most patients report minimal discomfort.
There’s no downtime. You may resume normal activities immediately, though it’s best to avoid intense workouts for 24 hours.
You’ll begin to notice less tension and a more relaxed shoulder line in 3-4 weeks, with continued slimming over 1–2 months. Results typically last 4–6 months, and can be maintained with regular sessions.
