Ultherapy is a US FDA approved treatment for non-surgical and non-invasive skin tightening. It has a long track record, with US FDA approval since 2009, and over 2 million treatments performed worldwide1. It is used to treat sagging skin of the face, jawline and neck as well as mild to moderate droopy eyebrows and double chin.
Using MicroFocused Ultrasound with Visualisation (“MFU-V”), the Ulthera device delivers ultrasound energy to the deeper layers of skin to generate focal areas of heating known as Thermal Coagulation Points. Collagen rich layers of the skin- such as the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (“SMAS”) and deep dermis are targeted. The treatment causes existing collagen to contract and triggers new collagen production- as evidenced by immediate skin tightening that further improves over the next 2-3 months. Using the patented DeepSEE® technology, the Ulthera system provides real-time ultrasound visualization of the skin down to 8mm, allowing practitioners to deliver the treatment at the optimal tissue depth and avoid injuring structures such as blood vessels or bone.
By using specialized transducers, Ulthera can precisely direct ultrasound energy to specific depths beneath the skin—namely, 4.5mm, 3mm, and 1.5mm. Focusing energy into concentrated points within the thermal coagulation zones allows temperatures under the skin to surpass 60°C.
This elevated temperature initiates a process known as neo-collagenesis in the targeted area, stimulating the production of new collagen, and reduced skin laxity, resulting in a firmer and more youthful appearance.
The focus at 1.5mm targets the dermis, addressing more superficial layers and areas with thinner skin, such as the forehead and temples. This effectively addresses fine lines and tightens the skin on the dermis.
The focus at 3.0mm transducers address the deep layers of the dermis, targeting the skin structure to stimulate collagen growth. Additionally, at this depth, it also targets fat.
The magic of lifting takes place at a depth of 4.5mm. Using the 4.5mm transducer, the physician can precisely target and treat the Subcutaneous Musculo-Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layer. The SMAS is a crucial fibrous network comprising muscle, collagen, and elastic fibres—the very layer targeted by plastic surgeons during a surgical facelift.
Ultherapy®‘s visualisation allows safe and effective treatment by avoiding bone and blood vessels.
Clinicians can create a personalized treatment plan tailored to an individual’s skin anatomy. Variations in factors such as fat layer thickness among patients necessitate the utilization of distinct transducers for varying depths.
Ultherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive and no downtime treatment, with clients returning to normal activities right away.
Ultherapy treatments have a strong safety track record- due to real time visualisation provided by the patented DeepSEE technology, which allows energy to be delivered accurately to the correct tissue plane while avoiding vital structures such as blood vessels.
Effectiveness of treatments have been shown in multiple clinical trials1,2,3, with a high patient satisfaction rate.
A non-surgical and non-invasive treatment, no incisions or downtime are associated with the procedure. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the session.
Effective in tightening loose or sagging skin, particularly on the face, neck, and décolletage. It provides a non-surgical option for achieving a more lifted and toned appearance.
Stimulates the production of collagen, a crucial protein that provides structural support to the skin. Increased collagen helps improve skin elasticity, firmness, and overall texture.
The gradual collagen regeneration process ensures that results appear natural and subtle. There is no sudden change, and improvements evolve over several months.
Ultherapy® employs Micro-Focused Ultrasound to stimulate specific layers within the skin. Through the generation of a thermal effect, this procedure activates the body’s inherent capacity to produce new collagen, yielding firming and toning outcomes. Unlike lasers, radiofrequency, and surgery, Ultherapy® directs focused imaging beyond the skin’s surface, precisely targeting the appropriate depths and temperature for optimal precision.

Ideal candidates are individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity who are looking for a non-invasive option to lift and tighten their skin.
First time clients $1788 nett for Full face Ultherapy (400 lines) $1800 + GST – Full face 400 lines : suitable for younger patients with early skin laxity $2800 + GST – Full face 600 lines : for mild-moderate skin laxity $3200 + GST – Full face and neck 800 lines : for patients with moderate skin laxity of face and neck
Treatment times can vary depending on the areas being treated, but sessions typically last between 30 minutes to 2 hours.
There is minimal downtime associated with Ultherapy. Some patients may experience redness or mild swelling, but these effects are usually temporary.
Results may become noticeable over the following weeks and months as the body naturally produces collagen. The longevity of results varies, but many people experience improvements for up to a year or more.
Common side effects are mild and temporary, including redness, swelling, and occasional bruising. Serious side effects are rare.
The number of sessions can vary depending on individual factors and treatment goals. Some people see results after a single session, while others may opt for additional treatments for more significant improvements.
Ultherapy is considered safe when performed by a trained and qualified healthcare professional. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects.
Many people choose to combine Ultherapy with other cosmetic procedures, but this decision should be made in consultation with a healthcare professional based on individual needs and goals.
